Hey everyone! I am back for my second post in a week. If you haven't picked up on the few times I talked about them, I am a huge fan of The 1975. I saw The 1975 on December 4 at Terminal 5 in Manhattan, and briefly mentioned a photo in my my favorite moments of 2015 post (Can you find the picture!?). This post is mostly pictures of my experience at the 1975 pop up shop in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
The band released a new album called I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It on February 26, 2016. They decided to do a series of one day pop-up shops in New York, London, and I believe one more place within this week. Since, I was in school I wasn't able to to meet the band because by time my friends and I got to the store, the band had left. My friend was able to meet them earlier that day and she said they were very nice and she talked to them for twenty minutes.
The shop sold vinyls, CDs, photo books, and pictures. The walls were covered in the names of their songs (such as The Sound, Ugh!, and Somebody Else).
The store was rather small (two floors with one room each), and only 10-20 people were allowed at once, so the whole experience was very intimate. Two of my friends and I left after school to go to the store and waited forty five minutes to be let in. Me being me, also refused to wear sweatpants despite the fact it was slightly above freezing out (37°Fahrenheit).
The shop was selling CDs for five dollars, which is rather cheap for an album especially one that came out on that day. I forced my family to listen to the album in the car because it has a CD player in it.
I am very glad I got to go to the pop-up shop, even if I didn't meet the band. I know there will be tons of other chances to meet them when they come back to New York. If you're a fan of The 1975, I do recommend going to any meet-ups or pop-up shops that are near you because you meet some nice people.
You should buy The 1975's I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/i-like-it-when-you-sleep-for/id1065068027) because I am absolutely obsessed.
I hope you liked this post! Are any of you a fan of The 1975?
xx
